Things to note when installing a household water pump.

1. Installation location of the water pump

When installing a water pump, please pay attention to the following points:

  • The pump must be installed firmly and securely to prevent vibration during operation, which could damage the pump’s mechanical components.

  • The pump should be placed in a dry location and protected from direct sunlight, rain, wind, or water splashes. Water entering the motor may cause short circuits and motor failure.

  • The pump should be installed as close to the water source as possible, taking into account the suction capability of the pump.
The maximum suction depth (from the pump to the water surface) must not exceed 9 meters for shallow-well pumps.
For electronic booster pumps, the water source must be at least 1 meter higher than the pump.

  • Do not install the pump in a space that is too narrow or poorly ventilated. The installation area should be dry, clean, and well-ventilated.

2. Notes on selecting piping

  • Use pipes with standard inner diameters suitable for the pump.

  • Both inlet and outlet pipes must be completely airtight. Any leakage may negatively affect pump operation.

  • Avoid using too many 90-degree elbows, as they increase flow resistance and reduce pumping efficiency.

  • The suction pipe must be installed so that the one-way (check) valve is always in a vertical position to improve pumping performance.

  • The one-way suction valve should be installed at least 30 cm above the bottom of the well to prevent debris from clogging and damaging the pump.

Important notes:

  • Proper grounding of the water pump is mandatory to prevent electrical leakage hazards. Grounding steps include:
Step 1: Drive a copper or steel rod into the ground (minimum depth 10 cm; deeper grounding provides better safety).
Step 2: Connect one end of an electrical wire to the pump casing and the other end to the grounding rod installed in Step 1.

  • Do not operate the pump with an unstable power supply or with voltage/current that does not match the pump’s rated capacity.

  • Do not use the pump to transfer oil, salt water, chemicals, or water with temperatures above 45°C.
